Check Point ® Software Technologies Ltd., the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that its Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solution has received the prestigious "IT product of 2010" award from Computerworld magazine in Czech Republic. Organized three times a year, the competition aims to highlight the products with outstanding features and functionalities that offer strong added-value to customers and significantly surpass their peers. Check Point Abra had won the prize in June this year; this time the jury of Computerworld magazine chose to reward the uniqueness of Check Point's data loss approach.

"The prevalence of email for mass communication, combined with high-speed computing and data communication networks has made the risk of data loss considerably high for businesses. For the first time in the industry, Check Point solves this challenge and offers businesses an original solution to protect against data loss over email. Our innovative DLP solution enables businesses to actively prevent unintentional data loss through an innovative approach that combines content detection and user remediation technologies," explained David Klusacek, regional director of Check Point Software Technologies for Eastern Europe.

Sitting at the network gateway, the Check Point DLP solution moves data loss from detection to prevention without disrupting the company's daily flow of business. The data classification engine MultiSpectTM integrated into the solution, identifies sensitive information -- such as confidential corporate, legal or financial documents -- and makes accurate decisions to release, block or quarantine the data by combining user, content and process information. In parallel, the UserCheckTM remediation technology immediately warns the end-users with a pop-up alert whenever their data may be at risk.

"Not only does the solution contain the risks of data loss, but it educates employees on the security policies of the company at the same time. Corporate employees thus actively participate in the entire process and can proactively block potential data loss in real time. This unique combination of technology and user empowerment makes data loss prevention simple and truly effective," added Klusacek.

"With this new award, Check Point confirms once again its leading position in the Internet security industry. We are proud to garner such positive attention and will continue to innovate and advance our product portfolio," he concluded.
