Redwood City, CA — Wed, 06 Jun 2012 - Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced the company’s participation in permanently enabling IPv6 for its products in support of World IPv6 Launch on June 6, 2012, alongside major Internet service providers, web companies and content providers around the world such as Comcast, Facebook, Yahoo! and Google.

Organized by the Internet Society, World IPv6 Launch represents a major milestone in the global deployment of IPv6. As the successor to the current Internet Protocol, IPv4, IPv6 is critical to the Internet's continued growth as a platform for innovation and development.

"The fact that over 2,000 websites and 50 access providers are making significant commitments through participation in World IPv6 Launch is yet another indication that IPv6 is no longer a lab experiment; it's here and is an important next step in the Internet's evolution," commented Leslie Daigle, Chief Internet Technology Officer at the Internet Society. "As more IPv6 services become available, it’s increasingly important for companies to accelerate their own deployment plans."

As networks around the world transition to IPv6, it is essential for organizations to deploy network security solutions that can deliver protection for both IPv6 and IPv4 content. Organizations must also gain a clear understanding of the security challenges that come with the migration from IPv4, thoroughly evaluate threats that are unique to IPv6, and adopt best practices necessary for a secure deployment.

Check Point has supported IPv6 since 2003 in release NGX R60 and currently supports IPv6 with its latest software release R75.40, appliances and new secure unified operating system, Check Point GAiA™. Check Point solutions are designed to allow easy interoperability with this new version of the Internet Protocol, helping customers make a seamless and secure transition to IPv6.

“Participating in the World IPv6 Launch is a big step towards full deployment of IPv6 for Check Point and major content providers around the world. This signifies our commitment to helping businesses ensure all channels of Internet communication remain secure, and we are proud to be among the World IPv6 participants leading the way in this effort,” said Robert Hinden, Check Point fellow and co-inventor of IPv6.
